چکیده

The dynamics of the random-phase sine-Gordon model, which describes 2D vortex-glass arrays and crystalline surfaces on disordered substrates, is investigated using the self-consistent Hartree approximation. The fluctuation-dissipation theorem is violated below the critical temperature T c for large time t > t * where t * diverges in the thermodynamic limit. While above T c the averaged autocorrelation function diverges as T ln(t), for T < T c it approaches a finite value q * ∼ 1/(T c − T) as q(t) = q * − c (t/t *) −ν (for t → t *) where ν is a temperature-dependent exponent. On larger time scales t > t * the dynamics becomes non-ergodic. The static correlations behave as ∼ T ln | x| for T > T c and for T < T c when x < ξ * with ξ * ∼ exp {A/(T c − T)}. For scales

Ground State Properties of Fluxlines in a Disordered Environment

A new numerical method to calculate exact ground states of multifluxline systems with quenched disorder is presented, which is based on the minimum cost flow algorithm from combinatorial optimization. We discuss several models that can be studied with this method including their specific implementations, physically relevant observables and results: (1) The N-line model with N fluxlines (or dire...

Growing Length Scales during Aging in 2d Disordered Systems

The non-equilibrium dynamics of three paradigmatic models for two-dimensional systems with quenched disorder is studied with a focus on the existence and analysis of a growing length scale during aging at low temperatures: 1) The random bond Ising ferromagnet, 2) the Edwards-Anderson model for a spin glass, 3) the solid-on-solid model on a disordered substrate (equivalent to the sine-Gordon mod...

Dual theory of the superfluid-Bose glass transition in disordered Bose-Hubbard model in one and two dimensions

I study the zero-temperature phase transition between superfluid and insulating ground states of the Bose-Hubbard model in a random chemical potential and at large integer average number of particles per site. Duality transformation maps the pure Bose-Hubbard model onto the sine-Gordon theory in one dimension (1D), and onto the three dimensional Higgs electrodynamics in two dimensions (2D). In ...

Super - roughening as a disorder - dominated flat phase

– We study the phenomenon of super-roughening found on surfaces growing on disordered substrates. We consider a one-dimensional version of the problem for which the pure, ordered model exhibits a roughening phase transition. Extensive numerical simulations combined with analytical approximations indicate that super-roughening is a regime of asymp-totically flat surfaces with non-trivial, rough ...

Aging in the glass phase of a two-dimensional random periodic elastic system.

Using the renormalization group method we investigate the nonequilibrium relaxation of the (Cardy-Ostlund) 2D random sine-Gordon model, which describes pinned arrays of lines. Its statics exhibit a marginal (theta = 0) glass phase for T < Tg described by a line of fixed points. We obtain the universal scaling functions for two-time dynamical response and correlations near Tg for various initial...
